Astronomers Find Hidden Engine in “Eye of Sauron” Blazar

Astronomers have discovered a powerful magnetic “engine” inside the blazar PKS 1424+240, known as the “Eye of Sauron.” Using 15 years of radio data, they revealed a toroidal magnetic field driving extreme particle acceleration, linking the blazar to cosmic rays, neutrinos, and gamma-ray emissions.
