Visakha Bucha Day

Visakha Bucha Day is one of the most important days for Buddhists as three major events in Buddha’s life occurred on this day comprising his birth, his enlightenment and his nirvana.

The principle Buddha taught his followers on Visakha Bucha day was The 4 Noble Truths:
First, Dukkha meaning suffering, discomfort or pain,
Second, Samuday meaning the origin or the cause of pain
Third, Nirodha meaning the end of pain
And fourth Magga meaning methods or ways to end the pain

Therefore, Buddhists have been given precedence on this day. Visakha Bucha Day is also expected to become one of the most important international days, recognized by the United Nations or UN.
However, today’s Visakha Bucha in Thailand has been quite subdued. Our reporters reveal that many temples are closed to prevent the faithful from attending and risking a Covid-19 infection.
Though neither this year nor last year saw any events at the temples, Buddhists could still attend an online circumambulation at www.เวียนเทียนออนไลน์.com.
