The Bank of Thailand (BoT) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) have launched a QR payment linkage to simplify cross-border payments between the two countries.
BoT deputy governor Ronadol Numnonda said the payment facility would provide more security and strengthen the digitalized societies of both countries.
He explained that for the initial stage of the service, Thai tourists using Bangkok Bank’s mobile banking app can scan the QR code for cross-border payment at 3 Vietnamese banks’ clients. Conversely, Vietnamese tourists using the mobile apps of those banks can scan the Thai QR codes for Bangkok Bank merchants in Thailand.
