TAT launches the “Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025” celebrating Thai–Indian cultural harmony
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with government and private sector agencies, officially launched the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025 on 19 October 2025 at Phahurat (Little India). The vibrant celebration marks the beginning of a two-week programme honouring the deep-rooted Thai–Indian cultural ties, running from 16 to 31 October 2025 across Phahurat and Khlong Ong Ang.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Attakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, alongside Ms. Paulomi Tripathi, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Bangkok; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor; and Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok. A symbolic candle-lighting ceremony illuminated the evening, representing light, peace, and goodwill, complemented by a dazzling sound-and-light display.
A highlight of the evening was the Thai–Indian Ramayana performance, blending traditional Thai and Indian dance forms to express the Diwali theme of light prevailing over darkness. The performance featured three acts — The Triumph of Good Over Evil, Return to the City, and Festival of Light, culminating in a lively Bollywood-inspired finale.
The celebrations also included the Grand Procession of Exquisite Radiance, showcasing Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, and the festive spirit of Bollywood. The parade, adorned with lotus offerings, garlands, parasols, and lanterns, was accompanied by drummers and musicians, symbolizing unity and friendship between Thailand and India.
The Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025 will continue until 31 October, featuring daily light shows, cultural performances, traditional workshops, and a vibrant Diwali Market at Phahurat and Khlong Ong Ang, celebrating the enduring bond between the two nations.
