During the New Year holiday, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will be holding the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 events in Bangkok and six regional cities, expecting some 200,000 tourists and around 500 million baht in circulation.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand will be holding the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 events from 28th December 2019 to 1st January 2020. The events will be staged in various locations, including Iconsiam shopping mall, Central World shopping mall, and Yaowarat road in Bangkok.
It is expected there will be about three million tourists in Thailand during the New Year holidays, some 700,000 of whom will be international visitors. Tourism revenue in this period is expected to be about 23 billion baht.
Beyond Bangkok, TAT events will be taking place in other tourism cities, such as the Amazing Night Sukhothai Countdown 2020 in Sukhothai province, which will be taking place at Wat Mahathat temple inside Sukhothai Historical Park; the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 @ Kalasin event at Rim Kaeng Don Klang Park in Kalasin province; the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 @ Lopburi event at Pibulwitthayalai School in Lopburi; the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 @ Ratchaburi on 24-31 December at Ratpracha Phattana Dam in Ratchaburi; the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 @ Sakaeo event at Indochina shopping mall in Sa Kaeo, and the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2020 @ Patthalung event at the Coliseum mall intersection in Phattalung.
These local events are expected to help boost local tourism, by attracting some 225,000 Thai visitors to the different areas, and generating around 500 million baht in revenue.
Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Army has joined hands with private companies to launch the 10th year of the Million Gifts Million Smiles campaign, inviting the general public to write messages of love and care as New Year gifts for children and youths in three southern border provinces and four districts of Songkhla province.
