The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomed Virgin Atlantic's first London Heathrow–Phuket flight on 19 October. The airline will run three weekly services in winter 2026–2027. TAT said a joint marketing campaign generated 9,079 bookings, and it is encouraging longer stays and trips to nearby southern destinations.
Why it matters
The new route expands UK access to Phuket, according to TAT, which hopes it will bring longer stays, higher visitor spending and visits to other southern Thai destinations.
