India’s TakeMe2Space to Launch Orbital AI Computing Satellite on SpaceX Rocket
Indian space startup TakeMe2Space plans to launch MOI-1A, which it describes as India’s first orbital computing satellite, aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-18 mission on October 1. The sub-50 kg spacecraft uses Nvidia Orin NX processors to run AI models and process satellite data directly in orbit rather than transmitting large volumes of raw data to Earth.
Computing in orbit could significantly reduce the cost and time required to transmit huge satellite datasets to Earth. The technology has applications across agriculture, mining, supply chains, insurance, financial services and defence, while strengthening India’s growing commercial space and AI ecosystem.
MOI-1A is scheduled for launch on October 1. TakeMe2Space says it already has 23 customers for the mission and plans larger, interconnected satellites beginning in 2027, with greater computing capacity and lower costs.
