India’s Foreign-Exchange Reserves Reach Record $740.8 Billion

India’s foreign-exchange reserves reached a record $740.80 billion in the week ending August 28, according to Reserve Bank data reported Friday. Reserves rose for a ninth consecutive week, gaining almost $75 billion over that period. Special dollar-inflow programmes contributed heavily, including $127 billion raised through non-resident Indian deposits since June.
