India’s Biodiversity Benefit-Sharing Payments Cross $21 Million
India’s National Biodiversity Authority has distributed more than $21 million through its benefit-sharing framework and approved another $870,000 for 27 states and five federal territories. Revenue generated from the commercial use of bitter gourd, okra, chilli and onion resources will fund conservation, ecosystem restoration, local institutions and community livelihood programmes.
