India Extends Free e-Visas for Thai Tourists Through 2027
India has extended its visa-fee waiver for Thai nationals until December 31, 2027. Thai passport holders can apply for a free 30-day, double-entry e-Tourist visa, supporting easier travel for Buddhist pilgrimages and holidays. Travellers must still obtain the visa online before departure.

The extension could strengthen India–Thailand tourism while boosting visitor numbers across Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Varanasi and other destinations on India’s Buddhist Circuit.

2019: India welcomed 169,956 Thai visitors.
2024: Arrivals recovered to 140,489.
January–April 2025: India received 57,056 Thai visitors.
December 31, 2027: Visa-fee waiver scheduled to end.
