Google says Android partner turned 1.3 million TV boxes into botnet

Google says it has dismantled a backdoor that Shenzhen-based Videostrong Technology built into 1.3 million Android devices, mostly TV set-top boxes. The devices were used for ad fraud and other malicious activity without owners' knowledge. Google has cut ties with the firm and banned it from certified Android devices.
