Health authorities today reported 19 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Thailand, with 2 locally transmitted cases linked to a group of women illegally returned from Myanmar, while the total number of cases globally has surpassed 66 million.
The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration today announced 19 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Thailand, with 13 being among international arrivals detected at the airport or in quarantine, 4 being persons having recently illegally travelled to Myanmar, plus two locally transmitted cases.
The two locally transmitted cases have been discovered in Singburi and Chiang Rai. They are found to be in contact with recent cases of returnees from Tachileik, Myanmar who have illegally return to Thailand by crossing a natural border in Chiang Rai.
The 13 cases among international arrivals reported today are from Malaysia, India, Sweden, United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Mexico, and Myanmar.
Today’s update has brought the cumulative number of cases in Thailand up to 4,072 cases, with 9 new recoveries reported. The total number of recoveries is now at 3,848 persons, while the death toll stands at 60.
Globally, there have been 66,230,893 cases of COVID-19 reported over 218 countries and territories around the world, with the United States having the most cases at some 14.7 million, followed by India at some 9.6 million, and Brazil at some 6.5 million.
The global death toll has increased to 1,524,457, with the highest fatalities reported in the United States at around 280,000, followed by Brazil at around 170,00, and India at around 130,000.
