COVID-19 Infects 22 National Women’s Volleyball Team Players

The Thailand Volleyball Association announced on 12 May that 22 members of the national women’s volleyball team have tested positive for COVID-19, after being exposed to four infected sports science staffers.
The association said the staffers had been training the athletes at their camp in Nakhon Pathom province before they fell sick and were tested for COVID-19 at Nakhon Pathom Hospital.
According to the association, Piyavate Hospital, their official medical sponsor, has already taken the 22 infected members in for treatment in Bangkok, while the four staffers have been admitted to Nakhon Pathom Hospital.
The mass infection has forced the team to withdraw from the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League, held from 25 May to 25 May in Rimini, Italy.
