Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Bangkok will join more than 190 countries in marking the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on Sunday, 21 June 2026, with a free public session held on the lawn in front of the Royal Statues of King Chulalongkorn and King Vajiravudh at Chulalongkorn University.
The event runs from 0600 to 0730 hrs and is hosted by Chulalongkorn University in association with the Embassy of India, Bangkok, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). It is open to the public and free to attend, with online registration at www.idythailand.com.
This year’s global observance carries the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” announced by India’s Ministry of Ayush, spotlighting yoga’s role in supporting physical mobility, mental well-being and active, healthy ageing as life expectancies rise worldwide. The session in Bangkok will follow the Common Yoga Protocol — the standard sequence practised across Indian missions globally each June 21.
Organisers have made it easy to simply turn up and take part: T-shirts and water will be provided, and yoga mats will be pre-placed at the venue. Participants are advised to arrive early, as T-shirt distribution begins at 0530 hrs.
International Day of Yoga was established by the United Nations in 2014 following a proposal by India, and has since grown into one of the world’s largest annual wellness gatherings. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or trying yoga for the first time, the early-morning session at Chula offers a relaxed, welcoming way to mark the day in the heart of Bangkok.
