Bangkok’s iconic Benchakitti Park has become the epicentre of Thailand’s grandest Songkran celebration as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially launched the Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2026. The spectacular five-day event, running from 11 to 15 April, seamlessly weaves together Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, electrifying live performances, and joyous water festivities — reinforcing Songkran’s prestigious UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status.

The grand inauguration on 11 April was graced by Mr. Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, along with prominent figures from both government and private sectors.
TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool expressed pride in the event, highlighting that the festival is designed to unite generations, regions, and international visitors. She emphasised that the celebration honours deep-rooted Thai traditions while embracing contemporary energy, positioning Thailand as a premier global festival destination.

A Dazzling Opening Night
The festivities kicked off with the spectacular Maha Songkran World Event parade at 18:30 on the main stage, showcasing this year’s Songkran deity, Nang Raksasdevi, beautifully portrayed by Miss World 2025, Opal Suchata Chuangsri.
Regional Culture Comes Alive
The “Songkran 5 Regions” zone, open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, offers visitors an immersive journey through Thailand’s diverse regional traditions. Attendees can enjoy traditional performances, local artisan showcases, temple fair experiences, sand pagoda building, and sacred Buddha image bathing rituals. With dedicated spaces for elderly guests and children, the festival ensures inclusivity, featuring over 100 stalls serving authentic Thai cuisine and products.
Star-Studded Entertainment Lineup
The main stage comes alive each evening from 17:00 to 22:00 with performances from Thailand’s biggest music acts, including Bodyslam, Palmy, Joey Boy, Tilly Birds, Getsunova, 4EVE, Ink Waruntorn, Maiyarap, and many more. Cultural and contemporary showcases add further depth to the entertainment programme.
For electronic music enthusiasts, the dedicated water play zone and EDM stage pulses from 16:00 to 22:00 with high-energy sets from renowned DJs including 22Bullets, Hugo, Brynna, Roxy June, and others.
Spectacular Drone Light Shows
