Agoda Unveils Key Travel Trends for Thailand in First Half of 2025

Bangkok, 17 July 2025 — Agoda, the leading digital travel platform, has released its latest insights on inbound travel to Thailand for the first half of 2025, highlighting continued growth from key regional markets. China, Malaysia, and South Korea topped the list of international arrivals, followed by Japan and Singapore — a trend boosted by Thailand’s expanded air routes and tourism facilitation under the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign.

At the city level, Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket remained the top three destinations. Notably, Hat Yai emerged as a rising hotspot, especially for Malaysian and Singaporean travellers, thanks to its affordability and accessibility, earning recognition as one of Asia’s most budget-friendly cities for two consecutive years.

Agoda’s data also revealed unique visitor patterns. While Chinese tourists led in numbers, South Korean visitors had the longest average stays, followed by travellers from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and China. Island getaways and quieter spots saw extended visits, including Ko Tao for diving, Ko Pha-ngan for its relaxed beaches and nightlife, and Pathum Thani for its authentic local charm near Bangkok.

According to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the country welcomed over 16 million international visitors from January to June 2025, generating around 743.6 billion baht in tourism revenue. The growth reflects successful government initiatives such as infrastructure improvements, simplified visa processes, and focused promotional campaigns aimed at elevating Thailand’s tourism experience.

Akaporn Rodkong, Country Director at Agoda, shared:
“We are honoured to be the platform of choice for travellers across Asia and proud to support Thailand’s thriving tourism sector. Agoda is committed to providing a wide range of accommodation and travel options, helping visitors discover both iconic destinations and hidden gems across the country, ensuring memorable and seamless travel experiences.”
