Krabi Shines in AirAsia and TAT’s Skytrax 16-Year Celebration Trip

Krabi Shines in AirAsia and TAT’s Skytrax 16-Year Celebration Trip

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with AirAsia, spotlighted Krabi during the “AirAsia Skytrax 16 Years Celebration” familiarisation trip. Held from 19 to 21 June, the event welcomed over 120 key opinion leaders (KOLs) and media representatives from across Asia, aiming to promote Green Season travel and showcase Krabi as a safe, sustainable, and year-round destination.

A highlight of the trip was the unveiling of AirAsia’s special edition “Still Winning, Still Gold” aircraft livery, commemorating its 16th consecutive win as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax. The aircraft received an official welcome at Krabi International Airport on 19 June.

Krabi Vice Governor Mr. Suvit Suriyawong warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing pride in the province’s natural beauty and eco-tourism appeal. “Krabi offers unforgettable experiences — from scenic landscapes and community-driven tourism to the hospitality of our people. We hope visitors return not only with wonderful memories but also as ambassadors encouraging others to discover Krabi,” he said.

Guests enjoyed an immersive program featuring a cultural welcome dinner at The Beach Krabi, demonstrations of eco-print textiles, Thai wellness services, and a preview of TAT Connex, a digital tool designed to connect KOLs with rich Thai tourism content for international promotion.

TAT Executive Director of Marketing Services, Ms. Parichart Boonclai, emphasized Thailand’s year-round tourism appeal and Krabi’s leadership in sustainability. “The Green Season is ideal for discovering Krabi’s natural charm and cultural richness. Our ‘Krabi Prototype’ initiative promotes low-carbon tourism, eco-conscious business practices, and local experiences such as mangrove tours in Ban Thung Yee Peng and marine adventures near Ko Ngai,” she noted. Safety enhancements, including upgraded infrastructure and emergency systems, have also been prioritised.

In 2023, Krabi welcomed 6.3 million visitors and generated over 90 billion Baht in tourism revenue. The province’s world-renowned attractions — including Maya Bay, the Phi Phi Islands, and Railay Beach — continue to earn global accolades. Maya Bay, recently named the world’s most Instagrammable beach by Heepsy, has been featured by Lonely Planet and Beach Atlas. Krabi’s unique blend of natural wonders, hot springs, limestone formations, and rich local culture has also made it a favorite filming location, with “Jurassic World Rebirth” being the latest production.

This trip also celebrated AirAsia’s 16-year milestone with Skytrax. According to Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, the recognition reflects the unwavering trust of customers and the airline’s dedication to service excellence. He shared that AirAsia is committed to expanding its regional network and launching new routes aligned with evolving travel trends.

To commemorate the occasion, AirAsia launched special promotions, including discounted fares and baggage perks, available from 19 June to 3 July 2025 for travel through 31 March 2026 via its official channels.
