Trump Rolls Back Key Farm Import Tariffs Amid Cost-of-Living Pressure
On 15 November 2025, the White House announced that President Donald Trump had signed an executive order removing import tariffs on several agricultural items—including coffee, bananas, beef, coconuts, and mangoes—with the change applied retroactively from midnight on 13 November.
This decision marks a shift from Trump’s earlier position that such tariffs were essential for protecting U.S. jobs and national security.
The reversal also comes amid growing criticism over rising living costs, driven by the administration’s broad tariff policy that increased prices on a wide range of imported goods.
