The Blue Jasmine: Thailand’s New Luxury Train Experience
Thailand is redefining luxury rail travel with the launch of The Blue Jasmine, a five-star sleeper train set to debut later this year. Offering a nine-night journey from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, the train takes passengers through lush landscapes and historic provinces, creating a new benchmark for slow travel in Southeast Asia.
Journey Highlights
The route includes curated stops in Ayutthaya, Uthai Thani, Sukhothai, and Chiang Mai, showcasing UNESCO sites, ancient temples, and the best of Northern Thailand’s scenery. Each stop features exclusive excursions designed to immerse travellers in the country’s cultural heritage.
Life Onboard
Originally built in the 1960s as a Japanese sleeper train, The Blue Jasmine has been meticulously restored by DTH Travel into a boutique “hotel on wheels.” Its 10 carriages combine vintage rail charm with modern comfort, accommodating only 37 passengers across three cabin categories—Classic, Premium, and Premium Suites. Each cabin is crafted for privacy and elegance, while shared dining and lounge cars provide spaces for socializing, gourmet dining, and relaxation.
Curated Experiences
Beyond luxury onboard, the journey offers carefully planned excursions:
-
Bangkok – tuk-tuk rides through iconic temples.
-
Sukhothai – hands-on pottery workshops with local artisans.
-
Chiang Mai – a visit to an elephant sanctuary focused on sustainable wildlife care.
Schedule & Pricing
The maiden voyage of The Blue Jasmine is set for 16 November 2025, with additional departures scheduled in January, February, March, July, November, and December 2026.
The all-inclusive package covers accommodations, guided excursions, meals, and transfers, with prices starting at 245,000 THB (approx. USD 7,500).
The Blue Jasmine promises not just a trip, but an unforgettable journey through Thailand’s heartland—where luxury, heritage, and culture meet on the rails.
