WomenPower Thailand: Igniting a Global Movement for Gender Equality

In recent years, the world has witnessed a surge in the fight for gender equality and women’s empowerment. One such movement is #women power a global movement started by Mr.DK Bakshi and it has its presence in 23 countries around the world. Dr. Manisha Bose, a lecturer at Assumption University and the chapter head of the movement in Thailand is leading the movement with her vision.

As a global movement, #WomanPower Thailand aims to empower women and dismantle the barriers that hold them back from coming on a common platform from different nationalities, groups to empower themselves and others. Through various initiatives, this movement seeks to create a more inclusive, equal, and prosperous society where women can thrive.

The Importance of Women’s Empowerment:

Women’s empowerment is not merely a matter of justice but also a powerful driver of social, economic, and political progress. When women are empowered, they can contribute to the betterment of their families, communities, and nations. By breaking the cycle of discrimination and inequality, #WomanPower Thailand is paving the way for a brighter future for all.
This is a voluntary movement and not funded. All the initiatives take place by the support of women who would like to contribute in terms of service.
Initiatives by Woman Power Thailand:

  1. Education and Skill Development:
    Education is the cornerstone of women’s empowerment, and Womanpower Thailand recognizes its importance. The movement supports under privileged girls by making an effort to support their fees ,stationary and arrange for additional help of tuition if needed.
  2. Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship:
    Financial independence is key to women’s empowerment. #Woman Power Thailand works to create opportunities for women to become financially independent by promoting entrepreneurship by conducting sessions by experts for free as a service to the movement. These initiatives enable women to start their own businesses and improve their economic well-being.
  3. Health and Well-being:
    A healthy woman is an empowered woman. #WomanPower Thailand emphasizes the importance of physical and mental health by organizing health camps and awareness programs. These initiatives encourage women to prioritize their well-being and make informed decisions about their health. They have collaborated with MiindmyMind .com, a mental health service provider and released a paper on women’s mental health issue which was released In an event of #Women power .Many women providing alternative therapies are associated with the movement as well.
  4. Advocacy and Awareness:
    Raising awareness about gender equality is crucial to bring about lasting change # Woman Power Thailand engages in advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about women’s rights and gender inequality. Through social media, community outreach, and public events, the movement aims to create a more informed and engaged society. So far they have had two public programs in 2022 march, conducted by the founder DK Bakshi and another in March 2023 sponsored by Sunil Kothari. Both programs were led by Dr. Manisha who conducted Panel discussions on women issues with astute women panelists from different walks of life. Both programs had women Ambassadors of various countries. The then Indian ambassador Suchitra Durai was the chief guest for 2022 event and H.E Nagesh Singh was the chief guest in 2023 event.

Conclusion:
Woman Power Thailand is a beacon of hope for women across the globe. By advocating for gender equality and empowering women, this organization is creating a ripple effect that will ultimately lead to a more just and equal world. It is also attempting to get expats and locals, home makers and professionals all under one roof. As Dr. Manisha says “Each one of us has a little light within us and if we come together, we can illuminate the world “
