Thai Muslim pilgrims from Indonesia enter quarantine program

Officials have reported that a group of eight pilgrims returning from Indonesia have arrived in Yala Province and will be subject to a 14-day home quarantine program, as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
The pilgrims recently attended religious events on the Southeast Asian nation’s Sulawesi island which has already confirmed at least 30 cases of new coronavirus patients.
Local Yala health officials promptly performed basic health examinations soon after the eight’s arrival. None of them exhibited flu-like symptoms, although one of them has a pre-existing condition that means he requires a wheelchair.
The authorities acquainted them the preventive measures of the Ministry of Public Health and informed them to expect an array of thorough examinations at a later date.
The local provincial public health office chief gave an assurance that the province strictly follows government guidelines against the spread of COVID-19, saying that all individuals in risk groups are subject to a stringent screening process. He added that the province has enlisted police and military officials to help monitor those being placed in quarantine.
