Thailand to Transform TAGTHAi Into One-Stop National Tourism Platform

Thailand plans to transform TAGTHAi into a one-stop national tourism platform, connecting travellers with tourism services, local businesses, secure payments and regional experiences.

Thailand is moving to strengthen its digital tourism ecosystem by transforming the TAGTHAi app into a comprehensive national tourism platform, bringing travel services, local businesses and tourism information together within a single digital hub.

The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun, reflects Thailand’s broader strategy to move beyond measuring tourism success simply by visitor arrivals. Instead, the government wants to generate greater economic value from tourism by encouraging visitors to spend more, stay longer and distribute their spending across a wider range of destinations and local communities.

TAGTHAi to Become National Tourism Integration Platform

Under the plan, TAGTHAi will evolve into a National Tourism Integration Platform, connecting tourism-related services and information from both government agencies and private-sector operators.

By bringing different parts of the tourism ecosystem together, the platform could provide travellers with a more convenient way to plan and manage their trips while also allowing authorities to better understand visitor behaviour and travel patterns.

Insights generated through the platform could support more effective tourism policies, destination management and smart travel planning.

Connecting Travellers With Local Businesses

A major focus of the upgraded TAGTHAi platform will be creating stronger connections between travellers and Thailand’s local entrepreneurs and micro-businesses.

Regional products and experiences, including traditional Thai textiles and locally produced goods, could be showcased directly to travellers through the platform.

The initiative is expected to give small businesses additional digital sales and marketing opportunities while helping tourism revenue reach communities beyond Thailand’s major tourist destinations.

This could allow visitors to discover more authentic local products and experiences while simultaneously supporting grassroots businesses.

Secure Payments and Seamless Travel Services

The government also plans to connect TAGTHAi with the “Thais Help Thais Plus” programme, developing the platform into a secure and transaction-ready tourism ecosystem.

Strong data protection and secure transactions are expected to be important elements of the expanded service, allowing travellers to access tourism products and services with greater convenience and confidence.

Bringing travel information, services, local products and transactions into one ecosystem could also reduce fragmentation across Thailand’s tourism sector.

Tourism as a Driver of Local Economic Growth

Thailand’s TAGTHAi strategy represents a shift toward value-driven and more inclusive tourism.

Rather than concentrating primarily on attracting larger numbers of international visitors, the approach aims to increase the economic contribution generated by each journey.

Longer stays, higher visitor spending and greater exploration of secondary destinations could help distribute tourism income among local businesses, entrepreneurs and communities throughout the country.

By positioning TAGTHAi as a central digital gateway for travelling in Thailand, the government hopes tourism can become an even stronger engine for grassroots economic development while providing visitors with a simpler and more integrated travel experience.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a tourism ecosystem where every journey through Thailand generates opportunities not only for major tourism operators, but also for the communities and small businesses that make each destination unique.
