Tak Bat Thewo to help flood relief

Wat Saket, one of the best known temples in Bangkok, has organized one of the Buddhist merit-making rituals called ‘Tak Bat Thewo Festival’, in which devout disciples of Buddha offer alms to revered monks. Alms offered to the monks during this year’s ceremony will be collected and sent to flood-affected people.
Ork-Phansa, the day marking the end of Buddhist Lent, falls on the first day of the waning moon of the eleventh lunar month. It customarily is the time when the Buddhist merit-making ritual comes into play. This year, 159 monks from Wat Saket, commonly known as the temple of the Golden Mount, walked in a single file to give Buddhists an opportunity to make merit by offering alms to the monks as well as to fresh up their own minds.
