His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has changed the Emerald Buddha’s rainy season attire to mark the beginning of the winter season at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok
At 5:32 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov 12), His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajarasudhabimalalakshana proceeded to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha within the precincts of the Grand Palace. They were accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Krom Luang Ratchasarinee Siripatchara Maha Watchara Ratchathida.
On arrival, His Majesty the King proceeded to the throne room where the Emerald Buddha was placed. The King removed the crown from the Emerald Buddha and cleaned the image with holy water in a royal conch shell. His Majesty the King dabbed the Emerald Buddha with a clean white cloth and placed a headpiece on the deity. The King paid his respects to the Emerald Buddha and proceeded to the royal seat near the base of the image.
His Majesty the King then drained the water from the soaked white cloth into a glass jar and other small containers.
His Majesty the King lit candles and incense sticks to pay homage to the diety and images of His Majesty King Phra Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I) and His Majesty King Phra Buddha Lertla Naphalai (Rama II).
Their Majesties the King and Queen, lit candles and incense sticks and presented religious offerings in front of the stone pulpit.
His Majesty the King received the royal conch shell containing the holy water. The King sprinkled the holy water on Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha and other members of the royal family at the temple.
His Majesty the King then sprinkled holy water over civil servants inside the temple hall.
