Colors of Doi Tung

2 December 2025 – 25 January 2026
📍 Doi Tung, Chiang Rai
Highlights:
Tribal gardens, craft workshops, walking street, cultural shows, Geminids meteor shower.

Colors of Doi Tung 2025 transforms Chiang Rai’s mountain landscape into a vibrant cultural hub from 2 December 2025 to 25 January 2026. Each weekend and holiday, Doi Tung comes alive with tribal gardens in full bloom, showcasing high-value crops, flowers, and plants farmed by local communities.

Signature Experiences

  • Tribal gardens present decorative flowers and native plants, creating Instagram-worthy scenes along scenic walking trails and in the Mae Fah Luang Garden.

  • Craft workshops let visitors participate in hands-on activities, from local weaving and pottery to jewelry-making, guided by tribal artisans.

  • The walking street bursts with handmade goods, food stalls featuring regional specialties (like Khao Soi and Nam Ngiao), and vibrant displays of contemporary and pop-inspired tribal art.

  • Daily cultural shows highlight the music, dance, and traditions of the hill tribes, often performed outdoors in garden settings with dramatic mountain views.

Geminids Meteor Shower

A highlight of the festival is the Geminids meteor shower, which peaks in mid-December. Doi Tung’s high elevation and clear winter skies create ideal conditions for stargazing, turning select evenings into magical, communal experiences of watching shooting stars above the illuminated gardens.

Community and Sustainability

Organized by the Doi Tung Development Project, the festival celebrates sustainable development, eco-tourism, and the transition from opium fields to flourishing cultural landscapes. Admission is family-friendly, with discounts for students, seniors, and children, making it inclusive for all ages.
