Chiang Mai Street Jazz Festival 2025 turns the city into an open-air jazz playground from 1–7 December 2025, with the Chiang Mai Cultural Center as its beating heart. For one week, everyday spaces become intimate stages where brass, keys, and percussion spill out into the streets and invite everyone to listen, wander, and join in.

Festival atmosphere

The Chiang Mai Cultural Center anchors the program with scheduled concerts, talks, and collaborations between Thai and international jazz artists, framed by the city’s Lanna heritage. Around it, side streets, courtyards, and nearby community spaces transform into casual listening zones where people can sit on steps, lean on walls, and soak up live music at all hours.

Citywide jazz stages

Pop-up street stages appear across key neighborhoods, from cultural quarters to café-lined lanes, bringing jazz to both locals and visitors who might simply be passing by. Each evening features a different lineup, ranging from classic swing and bebop to Latin, funk, and experimental sets, ensuring the sound of the city shifts and evolves throughout the week.

Artists and jam sessions

International musicians share the bill with Chiang Mai’s own jazz scene, creating unique cross-cultural ensembles that only exist for a single performance. After main shows finish, spontaneous late-night jam sessions emerge—horn players, vocalists, and rhythm sections mixing freely while audiences crowd close, blurring the line between formal concert and living-room hangout.

Experiences for visitors

Beyond listening, visitors can join informal workshops, artist talks, and open rehearsals, gaining insight into improvisation and how bands build their sound together. The relaxed street-festival vibe makes it easy to move between venues, discover new artists by accident, and end each night with the feeling of having wandered through a living soundtrack composed just for Chiang Mai that week.
