The Spokesman for the government’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, says Thailand has recorded one more death and 34 new confirmed cases of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) infection, as of Tuesday morning (Apr 14). There are more newly reported cases outside Bangkok, and most patients are between 30 and 39 years old.
The CCSA Spokesman said Thailand now has an accumulated total of 2,613 confirmed cases. The total number of recovered patients has increased to 1,405, while 1,167 others are being treated in hospitals. The death toll has increased from 40 to 41.
Dr. Taweesin said 623 patients are aged between 30 and 39. The first recent patient, who succumbed to COVID-19, was a 56-year-old female public bus driver, who drove on Route 140 in Bangkok. She suffered from high blood pressure and an enlarged heart, or cardiomegaly. The woman recently had a drink with her friends. As a result, 10 people later tested positive for COVID-19 following the drink.
Of the 34 patients, who have succumbed to COVID-19, 27 of them had close contact with previous cases.
Bangkok has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,311, followed by Phuket at 186, Nonthaburi at 150 and Samut Prakan at 107. There are more newly reported cases outside Bangkok, and the situation is not yet stable.
In the South, many cases are people who attended religious events in Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan. Yala province has reported 82 confirmed cases, Songkhla has 56, Narathiwat has 28 and Pattani has 77.
