It was an absolute honor to be part of Sudha Murthy’s enlightening session at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. A magnificent face of women power and feminism, Sudha Murthy epitomizes the modern Indian ethos. Her journey, from pursuing computer engineering in an era when female engineers were a rarity in India to supporting her husband in building Infosys, an Indian multinational IT giant, is inspiring.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sudha Murthy’s social contributions are commendable. From her impactful work with Indian sex workers to her endeavors in education, she has made a mark on society and in hearts of people . She is Honored with prestigious awards like the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
My late father had gifted me, “How I Taught My Grandmother to Read and Other Stories “in 2005 and her this book on inter-generation teaching had deeply touched me. “Common Yet Uncommon,” and “Wise and Otherwise,” are other two works that I loved. Any reader who reads her work will immediately establish a relationship with her . Sudha Murthy’s writings serve as a gentle reminder of the simple joys and profound lessons that often escape our notice in the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Publicly in her talk and personally to me as well she recommended her book “ Three Thousand stitches” which I shall read as soon as I can get my hands on it. I urge my friends to read it as well.
Her simplicity, empathy and determination makes her the woman whom we look upon and feel proud.
