-The Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 infections and two deaths, pointing to a key relationship to persons arriving from abroad.
The CCSA Spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin revealed in a daily announcement today that there are 45 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 2,518, among whom 1,135 persons have already recovered.
Two deaths were reported today, resulting in a total of 35 deaths from COVID-19 complications so far. One of the latest two fatalities was a 46-year-old Thai man who worked in a pawn shop, who had diabetes and was in contact with family members who are previously confirmed patients.
The other new fatality was a 65-year-old Thai man who worked as a cleaner in Bangkok. He was found with high fever and a cough, and was admitted to a hospital in Phayao.
The CCSA spokesman said new cases show a significant connection to travellers from abroad, while new cases have been confirmed among persons in state quarantine facilities. 17 new patients were identified in Bangkok, 8 in Songkhla, and 7 in Pattani.
The CCSA is advising the general public to wear a cloth face mask, and maintain 1-2 meters distance between themselves and others, both at home or in public places, in order to protect themselves and others from COVID-19 transmission.
