Local governments are checking the quality of meat products in their areas ahead of the upcoming Spirit Festival, also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival.
The Nakhon Si Thammarat Livestock Development Office, led by district officers and public health officials, are visiting fresh markets throughout Nakhon Si Thammarat province to inspect the quality of pork, chicken, beef, and seafood, making sure that there are no microbial or chemical contaminants in meet products, as part of the government’s meat inspection program undertaking ahead of the Spirit Festival to be celebrated on September 5th this year.
The inspection team has not found any contamination, but asked poultry farmers to watch out for Newcastle disease, a contagious viral bird disease that is transmissible to humans.
In Uthai Thani province, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Public Health visited Kaset Uthai Thani Market to inspect meat products and the prices of other consumer products in an effort to prevent retailers from taking advantage of the buyers.
