ASEAN-India Expo and Forum on August 2-5, 2017

The ASEAN-India Expo and Forum has been announced, to strengthen strategic partnerships between ASEAN nations and India The Ministry of Commerce, as assigned by the Royal Thai Government, in collaboration with related agencies will host the “ASEAN-India Expo and Forum” on the concept of Strategic Economic Partnership & Connectivity, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-India relationship. The event will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from the 2nd to the 5th of August, 2017.
The four-day event is to feature two main activities: the Forum and the Expo. The Expo focuses on creative and digital matters, while the Forum concentrates on the areas of trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people connectivity between ASEAN and India. Distinguished and well-known speakers from various sectors are expected to attend the event, lead the discussions, and give speeches. In addition, there will be a Business Matching Service in which participants can link up with compatible traders and resources. High potential and qualified businesses from many sectors of both ASEAN members and India will be showcased in individual zones. There will be more than 250 booths displaying their intriguing products and services.
The event aims to accentuate the importance of Thailand’s strategic location as the hub of the region and to boost trade, business, and tourism with other ASEAN nations and India. It is expected to strengthen partnerships between countries of the region and India, and to work as a platform which offers opportunities for executives, entrepreneurs, and policy makers to meet and engage in cultural diplomacy.
Mrs Apiradi Tantraporn, Minister of Commerce, today mentioned that the combined population of India and ASEAN can be rounded up to some 2 billion people, which means a huge opportunity for Thailand’s businesses and markets to expand their activities. ASEAN already ranks fourth among India’s trading partners, and in the case of Thailand, the economic value of trade with India accounted for 7 billion dollars last year. The Thai government aims to increase this trade by 4% this year.
At least 20,000 participants from ASEAN and India are expected to attend the event. People who are interested in participating can join free of charge throughout the period.
