Fried meat with basil leaves and chicken rice popular in Japan

Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn disclosed that fried meat with basil leaves and chicken rice has become popular dishes in Japan, according to the JMA Research Institute Inc.’s survey.

The survey was conducted on Japanese housewives aged between 20-70 and found that the top 15 dishes most commonly eaten by Japanese housewives are fried meat with basil leaves and chicken rice.

Japanese people tend to buy more and more semi-finished food and it is good for the operators who wish to expand the Thai food market in Japan, she said.

It is necessary to promote Thai food among Japanese consumers through various channels as it will benefit the entire Thai industry, both ingredient export and semi-finished food.
