PM ask state offices not to take down pictures of late King

The Prime Minister has asked government agencies to leave pictures of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej where they are unless told otherwise.

Government spokesperson Lt Gen Sunsern Kaewkumnerd said today Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had ordered government offices nationwide not to take down portraits of the late King and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and to wait for further instructions.

He said however that dedications under His Majesty’s pictures which used to be “Long Live the King” should be changed. He however did not specify which message to use.

If one wishes to replace the picture with another picture of His Majesty, he said the replacement should be done immediately.

He also played down rumors that the government ordered pictures of the late King to be taken down while asking social media to stop disseminating this false information.

He then urged the public to call hotline 1111 for accurate information.
