People show up at Grand Palace to give a farewell

Crowds of people are massing in front of the Grand Palace to take part in the ritual bathing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej after the Bureau of The Royal Household announced that members of the public will be allowed inside from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This morning, people from young to old gathered around Sanam Luang, waiting to attend the ceremonial bathing of the late King of Thailand at Sahathai Samakom Pavilion inside the Grand Palace. Some of the public have traveled overnight from remote provinces to Bangkok to join this solemn and important event to show their respect.

Officers are working non-stop to make sure those attending the ceremony are feeling well and to make sure that the situation remains peaceful.

More members of the public are continuing to travel to Sanam Luang and have reserved their place on the footpath to wait for the procession of the late King’s body.
