National police chief: Their Majesties King and Queen worried about southern violence

Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Pol.Gen.Preophan Dhamapong has expressed his readiness to put Their Majesties the King and Queen’s advice on the southern unrest into action, pledging to urgently search for measures to fight against the problem.

The national police chief on Friday relayed Their Majesties the King and Queen’s concerns for the deep South. He said the police would adjust their patrolling routes, step up security in the areas with frequent violent incidents and deploy more police officers and conscripts who were familiar with the southern border provinces.

Pol.Gen.Preophan stated further that the acting national police chief Pol.Gen.Adul Saengsingkaew, his successor, had taken the southern unrest seriously and the police and the military had well cooperated in containing the situation.
