The Government Public Relations Department (PRD) will host a celebration to mark the 82nd anniversary of radio broadcasting activities in Thailand on 25 February. The event will be held at Radio Thailand on Vibhavadi Rangsit road to honor His Royal Highness Prince Purachatra Jayakara, the Prince of Kamphaengphet, who is also known as the Father of Thai radio broadcasting.
Deputy Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department Mrs. Tuenjai Sinthuvnik said the celebration will be held to honor the Father of Thai radio broadcasting, which officially began on February 25th, 1930. Representatives of broadcasting units under the supervision of the PRD, related agencies and other radio stations have been invited to participate in the event.
Touching on the direction of radio broadcasting activities of the PRD, Mrs. Tuenjai quoted the PRD Director-General, Mr. Teerapong Sodasri, as saying that radio broadcasting in the country should be adjusted in response to what listeners would like to hear and in line with the national policy. It should also be launched to promote the democracy, the monarchy, and national reconciliation. The Deputy Director-General said Radio Thailand has included foreign language service to prepare Thai people for the integration of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
