Kittiratt confirms to proceed with water management master plan

The Finance Minister has confirmed his ministry will put into implementation the water management master plan after related laws supporting the scheme have passed through the consideration of the Parliament.

Mr. Kittirat Na-Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, said that he would definitely go ahead with the water management master plan after the Parliament’s approval. The project will need at least THB150 billion this year to be disbursed from the public infrastructure investment budget of THB 350 billion.

Regarding the drafting of the 2013 budget bill, the Deputy Prime Minister said the bill is likely to carry a lower deficit than last year. He said that to bring a balance back to national budgets depends on the world’s economic situation and three domestic factors, namely domestic consumption, investment in the private sector, and exports.

In next year’s budget, the Minister said investment spending will increase because budgets for the purpose had been decreased year by year in the past while investment should not actually be lower than 25 percent of the total budget. As for the Opposition’s disagreement on the issuance of executive decrees on financial loans for flood relief, the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister confirmed that the executive decrees were urgent because they would reflect the country’s readiness for rehabilitation after last year’s flood, thus ensuring foreign investors’ confidence.
