2nd Army Spokesperson said RBC would bring Cambodia closer to Thailand

The 2nd Army Spokesperson Colonel Prawit Hukeaw said the Thai-Cambodian Regional Border Committee (RBC) conference would improve the relationship between Thailand and Cambodia.

According to Col Prawit, the RBC conference is currently taking place until Thursday in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Today’s meeting focused on the work of the RBC and how it would be carried out.

It also focused on the strengthening the relationship between the two nations and minimizing the differences by drawing a solution plan. On the last day of the RBC, two representatives from the two sides will chair the event and jointly announce the results of the meeting to the press.

Region 2 Army Commander Lieutenant General Tawatchai Samutsakorn will represent Thailand while Cambodian General Chia Mon, the Region 4 Army Commander, will represent Cambodia. Gen Chia is expected to be on an educational trip afterwards before leaving for Cambodia on Thursday.

The purpose of the conference is also to improve the economy along the borders and to prevent illegal activities from both sides of the frontier and to maintain peace. Residents living on the border of both countries have been encouraged to be more friendly to one another in a bid to help restore their relationship.
