Wat Pho Thai Traditional Medical School was officially established in 1957 by Phra Tham Varodom, who later became the 17th Supreme Patriarch of Thailand. This institution is highly respected for its curriculum in traditional Thai massage and other spa therapy, as well as courses in the use of herbs in traditional medicine. Most of the practitioners of traditional medicine who have opened shops in the area were trained here.
Besides the massage training courses, the school also offers massage therapy to the general public. A sure cure for stress and muscle aches, the services include traditional Thai massage, foot massage, aromatherapy massage and herbal compress treatment, which are available from 08.00-17.00 daily.
