Mukdahan Governor Mr. Charnwit Wasayangkul said Thai-Lao trades had been on an increase, with the amount of export doubling in April compared to the same period last year. Electronic goods top the list of export commodities to Laos this month followed by fuel, food and household items.
According to Mr. Charnwit, imports from the neighboring country have also increased by 100% to 2 billion THB from the same period last year. The top 3 import products consist of bronze, garments and electronics goods respectively. The overall trade over the border has now accumulated to 6.5 billion THB , recording an increase of 165% compared to the same period last year.
Mr. Charnwit added, however, that the economy of Mukdahan in the 2nd quarter of this year had been slow given the increasing product and fuel prices. Politics, interest rates and natural disaster are also key factors in determining the economic trend, according to the Governor.
