Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry to control egg prices

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is set to improve the Egg Board committee by recruiting members whose only purpose is to give benefits to consumers and must belong to either a private or an agricultural sector.

The Ministry has said an overhaul to the Egg Board is needed following a study by Kasetsart University, which suggested no members of the board could have any business relations with egg producers.

Moreover, the Cabinet has instructed the Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office to look into the price fluctuation of eggs. It has asked the egg producers not to raise the price at this time for fear of price hike as a result of floods.
