(NNT) – Democrat Secretary-General Suthep Thuagsuban is confident that the Foreign Affairs Ministry could explain the reasons for Viktor Bout’s extradition to all concerned parties.
Mr Suthep affirmed that the government had made the extradition procedures in accordance with the law, and that it had already informed the US as well as Russia of the extradition issue. He was also confident that the Foreign Ministry would be able to give all the details on the procedures to clarify the move.
Viktor Bout, known as the merchant of death, was arrested in Bangkok in 2008 for allegedly supplying weapons to the outlawed Colombian rebels, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
Concerning the planned rally by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) on November 19th, Mr Suthep believed that the Center for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) would be able to handle the situation, if it should get out of hand. He, however, noted that, up to date, there had been no violence from their rallies.
Mr Suthep also stated that the autopsy of 89 red shirt protestors killed during the chaos, conducted by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), was to clarify the truth to the public.
